The Summerhouse Philip Wickham
The Summerhouse
Philip Wickham
Henry Gardiner - now in his eighty-fifth year - is a gentle unassuming man and despite the passage of time he remains handsome, charming and elegant. It is to be his final day in Wittenscawe, the 17th century timber framed cottage in Dittisham, Devon. Tom - Henry's grandson - loves his grandfather and when visiting would spend most of his time in the summerhouse listening to his grandfather's stories and recollections. It is then, a gentle, uncomplicated and nostalgic journey through an old man's life. Through which, he encounters: adventure, humour, romance, poignancy and life-long friendships.
