The End of Immigration M a Farrell

America is putting a knife to its throat. It is called immigration and terrorists are wielding the blade. But they are not this country's only enemy. This nation was not founded as an experiment in immigration. Our Founding Fathers were establishing a new Europe within a new order; English law combined with Greek and Roman political structures, infused with Enlightenment philosophy. Past eras of mass immigration into America were not idealistic periods of welcoming new elements into our nation's 'melting pot.' They were times of lawlessness, graft, corruption and religious conflict. They were times that created slums and tenements and produced the inner-city problems with which we grapple today: crime, poverty, illiteracy, unemployment and increasing social costs. Why in the world would we import more of this?
