At the North Pole, Santa has trapped the working-class elves in a vicious cycle of poverty and fear, squeezing every last ounce of productivity from them in order to maintain his massive global manufacturing and distribution system.

However, the tiniest of persons can bring about great change, and this is the story of one of them-a brave elf named Henrik, who decides to make a harrowing journey to the land of the humans to inform them of the elves' plight. When Henrik arrives in a sleepy New England town, he meets Charles Sinclair, the precocious editor of George Washington Middle School's struggling student newspaper. Together, the duo must overcome Santa's threats and machinations to educate the public about the misery the elves endure at Santa's cruel hands.
