My Month To Remember
Newton Hunt Crumley
In September of 2015, while searching for other information, I was startled to find a file folder marked "Safari Notes." In looking inside, I found 110 typewritten pages which were a transcription of Newton Hunt Crumley's, my father, trip to the Belgian Congo in Africa, primarily in January of 1960. I knew it was a treasure to be shared with our family. While today we recognize that there are valid reasons to not kill the African animals, and it is far better to photograph them, in 1960 it was a different time and a different culture. My father was a sportsman, a hunter and a photographer and you will find, within his own words, that he was all of these on this trip that he took. Janice C. Pine
