In the book of Daniel chapter one, the Bible tells us that the king of Babylon besieged Jerusalem. After taking control of the city, King Nebuchadnezzar gave orders that the best of the young men from Judah were to be taken captive to Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar only wanted the brightest captives, those who were gifted with wisdom, talent, and the ability to learn quickly. Although many Hebrew youths were taken to Babylon, chapter one only mentions four by name: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
