Christmas Eve in 1955, Father Periwinkles finds a newborn baby lying on the altar in the sanctuary inside the Cathedral Basilica of Immaculate Conception in Denver, Colorado. There seems to be something seriously wrong with the baby at first until the baby's true nature is revealed surprising everyone working at the cathedral and eventually surprising everyone in the world including Pope Pius XII who is very interested in the child.
