For each of us, life is a patchwork of experiences and relationships we sew together with love and tears. Most of the time, the good outweighs the bad and we live happy lives, but for Michele Horn happiness is a long, lost dream. Approaching forty and still suffering from the loss of her oldest child, Michele awakens one day to the realization that she is stuck in a loveless marriage to a man who cares more about work than he does about her. Downhearted and lonely, Michele wonders if she'll ever feel real happiness again. It is in this moment of sadness that fate decides her life is done. When the time comes however, she simply can't let go. Like autumn in the south, she lingers. But she can only linger for so long. With new eyes Michele is forced to reevaluate her life and how she will spend her remaining time. She finds happiness and peace and is content with her path forward until a past acquaintance re-enters her life and turns her plans upside down. When her feelings for him begin to take over, she can't escape the guilt of knowing that she can't give him everything he is asking for. It wouldn't be fair to start something that is destined to end too soon, but is it fair to let go of the greatest love of her life?
