BASED ON A TRUE STORY. It was 1899 in Letcher County Kentucky. The Ku Klux Klan had begun a reign of terror, which brought them to the small village of Beefhide. The small community of Melungeons and Free Blacks felt the sting of the KKK's wrath, but when they murdered a Melungeon woman and her grandson - the infamous Appalachian lawman, Devil John, came out of retirement to put a stop to the horror. When Devil John and his deputies tried to arrest the Klansmen, violence erupted - THE FEUD HAD BEGUN! Everyone called him Devil John. The K. K.
