As a very young child, I found that I had the gift of writing poetry. My delight knew no ends when at the age of 7 or 8 years, I had a few poems published in the Cape Times Junior section for which I received certificates. From then on there was no stopping me and I spent many hours scribbling away. Unfortunately those earlier poems have been mislaid, but I still continued writing when the mood took me.
