Na Wahi Pana o Ka'u was the product of an oral history project done by Hawaiian language students of Ka'u High School at Pahala on the island of Hawaii during the school year of 2004--2005. It presents a unique history of the people in this very rural area of Hawaii as it moved from a native Hawaiian life style into the commercial life of ranching and sugar plantations. The kupuna (elders) interviewed generously shared their memories with the student interviewers.
