In this book I combined "When Police Officers Stand Down; Effects of Depolicing in America" with "justified; An In-Depth Look at Police Use of Force" to give you a complete understanding of the circumstances, science, and case law pertaining to the use of force by a police officer. In the current time they are not only scrutinized by their Administrators but the general public as well. Police Officers understand that they are public officers and that their actions are open to public review. They also understand that this can cause public dissent and in recent times public unrest. What I think is missing in these public debates is what gives police officers the authority to use force to effect an arrest or stop a crime from happening. Why police officers are seemingly protected from criminal charges when justified force is used when members of the general public may face criminal charges for using force.
