A magical African adventure story for children and the young at heart. Amou comes from a village on the edge of the Sahara. He's a loner, teased by the other kids for his dreams of adventure ever since his father disappeared under a cloud. He hangs out with Dongoulan the shaman, who warns of bad times ahead and reveals that only the legendary Blue Prince can save them from the sorcerer Makhtan ag Makhtan. When the other villagers are turned into statues of sand, Amou flees into the desert to find the Prince, joined there by Dongoulan - transformed into his animal spirit as an irritable old camel. JoJo, the chief's beautiful but insufferable daughter, appears in her animal form as a vain jerboa. Her kid brother Bouffo completes the team as a jackal puppy. They set off on their quest but are tricked along the way by the mighty sorcerer and his incompetent comic djinni sidekicks. The journey takes Amou to Timbuktu and beyond - into the heart of the burning desert, surrounded by magical mirages and constant danger.
