A vision from God prompts James Clayburn to build a perfect American town-exclusively for Christians-and by all appearances, he succeeds. Clayburn inadvertently passes his visionary powers on to a boy named Jared Hastings. He grows to manhood but before Clayburn can hand the town over to Jared, Clayburn dies. Jared is the true visionary successor, but a stranger and a pastor vie against him for power, and paradise soon turns into a hellish battlefield.
