A cloze test measures reading as a process in which students attempt to make sense of the text they read. These tests usually consist of a number of nonfiction passages on a variety of topics. Within these passages, words have been deleted and the student must choose the correct word for each deletion in the text. Many standardized tests for reading use the cloze method. Queue's Cloze Reading workbooks provide several dozen nonfiction passages for students to practice mastering this often difficult and challenging reading exercise.
