Within the walls of a mental hospital, the need for independence reaches a critical point during the coming of age of a young adult. Aaron Maris is gifted student in his senior year of high school. In a short span he has endured a broken home, the loss of his mother and a resentment for the surviving parent. Aaron's story is told by a fellow patient named Charles through the voice of the personal journal written by the young teen. With the help of a charismatic therapist and a medley of peers with their own unique problems, Aaron is faced with the challenge to find the courage at a new beginning.
