Mill Town USA is about a small Texas town that has been first baking in the summer heat and now devastated by a storm that wrecked havoc on the already overweathered buildings. Connie, a teacher from Wisconsin, drove to Texas to visit her brother who settled in the area ranching and working at the mill. Connie, naïve to the dangers on the lonesome road found herself sitting along the side of the road in her new car that refused to start. Along came 87 year old Russell McCarty driving his 1949 maroon Chevy pickup truck. He pulled over to see if he could help this stranger to the area. Tow truck called, he waited with her but the car still wouldn't start and had to be towed to Red's Garage, the only one in town. Russell McCarty drove Connie out to her brother's ranch and she got reacquainted with her sister in law, Debbie. On Sunday the family went to a unique church, a cowboy church. Although different from what she was used to, Connie liked the charismatic style of worship. After church the family met at Jack and Debbie's ranch for dinner under the big tree in the back yard. That is when Connie met Zeke, Debbie's brother, who was rather unfriendly and abrupt with her. She wondered if first impressions were always lasting...
