Multi-digit Addition and Subtraction (Unit 2) builds upon Easy Breezy Addition and Subtraction (Unit 1). Multi-digit addition and subtraction are not only essential building blocks for math, but they're also essential for everyday life as well. Two examples of this include working with both time and money. This is why this book incorporates sections focusing on time and money to help students understand and master multi-digit addition and subtraction. Additionally, this unit takes a multi-faceted approach to building fluency and understanding. Students will learn to both: 1. make sense of the tried and true standard algorithm as well as 2. learn the more visual approach of using Stepping Stones (introduced in Unit 1, Easy Breezy Addition and Subtraction) to find the difference. This way, students will be able to solve multi-digit addition and subtraction problems both in writing and in their heads, building the confidence and skills they need to continue succeeding in math.
