Leslie's father, one of the last Irishmen living in Roxbury, was once a star quarterback at Boston College. Joy's father, an African American, was his center for two years. After college he became a police officer and had an accident. He is always at home. Leslie's father works as a barber around the corner. Leslie hasn't felt love from her father since she was a little girl. He's always preparing her for the harshness of the world.
