Thorbury Hall, once the centrepiece of the city's new university, lies derelict. No longer home to the University Business School, the hall is fenced off and out of bounds to the students and most of the university staff. When the overgrown grounds become the scene of a murder, the Thorbury City Police are presented with a puzzle. Is there a connection between the young victim and the Earl of Thorbury? Dr Paul Cahill, a former Detective Sergeant turned lecturer, is drawn into the mystery and as the body count increases, Paul and his partner Carol Jones develop a life threatening interest in the hall and its history.
