This book is to defend Albania's history. At the end of WWI, Edith Durham wrote a letter to her Albanian friend stating the opinion of Europe. "In the eyes of the vast majority of people in Europe, Albania counts only as a good position for strategy and commerce. The Albanians themselves count as less than nothing and have neither rights nor history. That is Europe's opinion. And the Albanians would be sacrificed without hesitation in order to make a peace that was satisfactory to the powers in general. No country has ever been in or is in a more dangerous position."
