Publisher Marketing: On a stormy night in 1962, Stephen Patrick Sweeney, a serial killer, was one of the last inmates to be executed in the electric chair at Sing-Sing Prison in Ossining New York. At almost the same instant that the current passed through Sweeney's body two births were recorded in the same town. One newborn, a female, was delivered by midwife in the home of Iris and George Cooper, the other, a male was attended to by an obstetrician at the local hospital. The timing and the mysterious circumstances surrounding these three events constitute the driving force behind the actions that will profoundly affect the lives of various individuals. The two young people who become aware of each other while attending the local high school, after graduating, leave their home town for New York City where they stay in close contact. It is here that there acts of criminality begin. The story then goes on to include Wade Sturdevant, a young detective, and his partner Cheryl Briggs, who first come in contact with Jessica Cooper after being called in on an aggravated assault. This event, as the narrative continues sets the stage for a crime spree that will tax the expertise and resources of the two officers.
