And those things we fear happen and the pursuit of truth turns into a mad obsession. This is my tortured story and it is true. The actual characters in this book exist in all their beauty and ugliness. The events listed, the naked microscopic revealing of a personal relationship, all the love, passionate sex, the hate and the betrayal are all real. It is story I wrote as a cautionary tale against those taking the same path and as a way to exorcise my demons. "I've been completely faithful, I haven't slept with anyone. I don't know what you think...you can dig to China and you won't find anything," Sophia snapped at me. I was realizing more and more that catching a cheater was like a chess game. You had to think about your moves and also your opponents. When you finally said checkmate you better be sure. Then there'd be no slithering out of it, no more denials, nowhere else to move. But was it ethical to check up on your partner? If you spy and find nothing you are ethically screwed. On the other hand if you get the goods then you're justified.
