I offer no excuses or apologies to American anglers for this little treatise, worthy perhaps of a not more dignified name than "hand-book," on dry-fly fishing. The subject has been fully covered by a number of expert writers who have lived in the home of the dry-fly, England, and who have spent many years practicing this most delicate, artistic and fascinating of sports on English chalk streams, With the exception of a few magazine articles, there has been practically no American Literature upon the subject. This work is confined as closely as possible to the floating fly. The beauties of nature, one of the chief attractions of a day on the trout stream, are left to the poetic pens of the masters of English literature
