Since Time Began - Seit der Zeitenwende Short stories - Kurzgeschichten A German-American Reader "Since Time Began - Seit der Zeitenwende" is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places, and incidents are partly based on historical research in the area of the later Northrhine-Westfalia, Germany. This year's collection of stories highlights a few milestones in German history of modern mankind. From history of year 'zero' ('Beheaded'), (then 'unfortunately' missing a story about the1492 Beheim invention of the globe just before Columbus and paper print) to another quite relevant centennial event and historical step forward, ('Bridges'), a first picturesque urban sewage system (just built when shocking world war I began, I intended to help remember something besides this year!), a recent shocking mystery and criminal case presented in 'Aktenzeichen XY' (successful German TV show to solve unsolved criminal cases) that shocked big parts of Germany this year, and fiction set in a most popular location during the past year, the year of FIFA in Rio, featuring Squid, the Kalmar and finally another contemporary local color fable 'Selbstdisziplin' [=Self discipline], a term of debate across cultures. The first three stories, recommended to adult readers, are dual-language German-English. The last two stories are German. Any resemblance to actual events, locales, or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.
