This historical romance tells the fascinating story of the woman who is perhaps best known as the mother of Mary Shelley ("Frankenstein"). Wollstonecraft was an author in her own right, however, and her, "Vindication for the Rights of Woman" is considered one of the first feminist's published works. The play, set in 1796, concerns Wollstonecraft's romance with self-proclaimed anarchist William Godwin. Before they met, both Wollstonecraft and Godwin are on record as being anti-marriage, until they shock (and anger) supporters by getting hitched. Sprinkled liberally with humor, "The Rights (and Wrongs) of Mary Wollstonecraft" proves to be an intellectually and emotionally stimulating true story brought to life here, for the first time.
