It was 1914 and both Bruno and Jacob found it difficult to stay employed. First their factory was targeted and then one night after work, Jacob, Bruno and their colleagues were ambushed by hoodlums proclaiming devotion to king and country. After the battle which, showcased a ferocious display of strength on both sides, Bruno suggested they need not enlist if they wished to see action. All that was required was to live in Montreal. This is a story about unemployment and the collision of empires during WWI.
