"There had stood a great house in the center of the gardens, where now was left only that fragment of ruin. This house had been empty for a great while; years before his-the ancient man's-birth. It was a place shunned by the people of the village, as it had been shunned by their fathers before them. There were many things said about it, and all were of evil. No one ever went near it, either by day or night. In the village it was a synonym of all that is unholy and dreadful." Hannah held the book in her hand and reread the passage. She had never thought of the house in that way but, after her co-worker said it was evil and that everyone was afraid of it, Hannah was rethinking things. Her decision ... well, she didn't care what anyone else thought, she had at last found a domain that she had all to herself, an area where she could dream, could explore. Not having the finances to go to movies, go to dinner or concerts as other newly single people did, she spent her extra time visiting her recently discovered fantasy. Then one day while putting some of her book on the shelves in the house, one plopped off the shelf and fell open. She closed it so she could return it to the shelf and the pages flew open once again. She glanced down and scanned the page. It was a lecture on reincarnation. Did she believe in reincarnation? She wasn't quite sure but, things began happening at the house that may change her mind.
