Over a billion Catholics believe that the line of Papal succession for Popes, stretching back nearly two thousand years, begins with Jesus Christ and his first Apostle, St. Peter. However, it is there that historians and theologians begin to greatly diverge in their opinions regarding that succession One of the most popular traditions is after the death of Peter, the church was run by Pope Linus. This short book will look at the early church, and what is known about this first pope and his role in the early church.
