Publisher Marketing: After a successful life of money, power and fame in the business world, Irish Patterson and her unfaithful husband, Miykul Patterson return to her childhood home on a small island for a peaceful and private early retirement. Shortly after they settle in, he disappears, leaving her as the prime suspect. Assigned to the case are up and coming Detective Donna Lebrea and veteran Detective Mark Davis. Within the department Davis is well respected and considered one of the island's best detectives. However, Detective Davis is recently divorced, is not fond of being teamed with a woman partner and is falling back on an addiction to alcohol. During the course of the Patterson investigation, Detective Lebrea begins to see the cracks in the Davis facade of professionalism. Meanwhile Detective Lebrea is dealing with her own demons, but to the best of her ability presents a perfect life impression. Although the case is classified as a disappearance, the locals have tried and found Irish Patterson guilty and are referring to her as the black widow and the husband killer. Amongst them, one law student, Sofia Ramos, believes there is much more than meets the eye. She begins her own investigation. Prying deep into the lives of the Pattersons, she makes connections that prove perilous to her and to those around her. Intrigued by Irish's strong, beautiful presence, radio executive, Steve Malone, instead of falling prey to rumors, chooses to get to know the real woman. In the process he discovers strikingly similar qualities and he comes to admire her. And Irish, who was initially seeking privacy, not loneliness, eventually finds Steve has the only shoulder she can lean on. In the end, clues delivered by nightmare to Irish along with simultaneous investigation, both professional and personal point to a surprise villain.
