For many years the Free Will Baptist people of East Tennessee, Western North Carolina and Southwestern Virginia felt the need of having preserved for the future generations a record of the early history of the denomination in these parts. No one seemed to care to assume tile responsibility until a few years ago when the author, Rev. Paul Woolsey, through personal contact with the people of the three above named states, was almost suddenly stuck with the merits of just such a work. He began immediately to glean from every available source the material for this volume. There may be, and undoubtedly are, some minor errors, but having known him as I have I can assure those who may scan these pages of the faithfulness and integrity of the author and further assure you that every mistaken statement, if such you may find, issued from a mind of purity and was never the intention of the author
