Mae Olson is 27-years-old, out-of-work, and in a deteriorated relationship. Unexpectedly, she is offered a summer job of three months, crewing on a 40-foot sailboat, for an older gentleman who has recently lost his wife of 40 years to cancer. This is her tale-of mental, emotional, and sexual growth, as they sail the boat from Chicago, northward to Mackinac Island and to Lake Huron's North Channel, and eventually back to Lake Michigan. Travel with her-and the sailboat's owner-as they explore not only the beautiful ports and harbors of the Great Lakes, but also their own interior thoughts and emotions.
