Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, and being the child of a single parent, Terressa Kennedy watched her mother struggle for many years as she tried to raise her two children on her own. Throughout all the turmoil she suffered, she never gave up or lost sight of what was important?her faith in God and family. Terressa realized at an early age while sitting next to her mother in church just how gifted and talented she was. As the preacher spoke, her mother wrote, and when she was through with pen in hand, there was some of the most beautiful messages ever written. Unfortunately, her mother would never see her writings in print. On April 3, 2003, Terressa?s mother lost her three-year battle to inflammatory breast cancer, but not before passing these treasures on to the one person who cared for her throughout it all, her daughter.
