A book starting with Desire and ending with Easter. Poems by contemporary poet, Kevin Thornburgh. These poems are truly darker and sweeter than night. The poet is educated (MFA Antioch) and experienced. (This is his seventh book.) The original size of the book is to bring back a reminiscence of Walyt Whitman's first copy of Leaves of Grass. Though no claims can be made for this book to be as important a work, it is a "nice read." Poems imitating Chinese style are included as well as many pithy, short poems. The longest poem is five pages and details several trips to Mexico by the poet who is in search of religion among the poor. Other poems include a poem about "Color", and a number of poems influenced by the daily life and history of the poet who is from the East San Gabriel Valley of California. Though he has lived most of his life in southern California, he earned an NEH to study at Reed College in Portland, Oregon in 1986 when he was a high school teacher and running coach. The poet's website is kevinthornburgh@yolasite.com
