The Book of Secrets was nothing like Jacob had expected. He thought it would be for him alone, with all the secrets to becoming a heroic Keeper of the sword. Instead, he found an ancestry of grandfathers that did not have the courage or determination to fight against the enemies in the past. If Jacob was not able to correct the mistakes of those forgotten long-ago, the sword might turn to brass and possibly leave him alone and forsaken in the past he wanted to save. Would he ever find his friend or would he be doomed to forever finding a way back to save her? He saved his friend, Melvin Boone, and gave him a better future, would Jacob be as fortunate, or was he ill fated as the others that were once the Keeper of the sword? The Book of Secrets contained a secret that his grandfathers took great pains to share; but Jacob would have to determine if it was a choice he wanted to explore. The side notes in his journal spoke of a man that would remain faceless and nameless until he had to the courage to meet him. However, it was an opportunity he did not want to explore. It would have to wait, if possible. With fierce willpower, he would not let anyone get in his way and stop him from his destiny, even if it meant fighting to the death, be it with the sword, the bite of a poisonous snake, or a fall from a perilous waterfall. Bound by honor and faith in the sword, he would have to work fast to keep his destiny secure while being true to the sword. Jacob knew time was not on his side.
