A general's teenage daughter has to protect her family in the midst of the war in former Yugoslavia. Torture, massacre, systematic widespread rape, and besieging of her home city of Sarajevo. She will do what she has to do to make sure her other, sister, and little brother escape to safety. Only a few years earlier she and her family and all her friends celebrated the incredible experience of hosting the Winter Olympics. Back then it was a time of joy and friendship between all countries and religions. Those times had ended. This story is set in a war zone. What happens to people and what families must do to survive is not pleasant. But seventeen year old Dushanka, whose dream is to be a real soldier, determines to honor the memory of her father, and lead her family out of danger.
