But grew up in the small village of Jevington, in the South Downs of East Sussex. He was surounded with the tails of the local smugglers and their hideouts. At 16 years old he joined the Royal Sussex Regiment and later transferred to the Royal Army Pay Corps. During this time Bob travelled extensively - Malta, Libya, Aden, Germany, Holland, Norway, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and throughout the UK. After 23 years service he left the Army. He then worked in the City of London as an Analysis/Programmer, for various top city institutions. He spent his last 18 years working for a Government Department. Bob took up writing, to fill up his lunch hours. over the years he has developed 2 series of books. The First about the British Resistance Movement in WWII and the Second, Smuggling in the late 18th century. This book is from his Smugglers series.
