Samantha's grandmother had lived in Alberta. As a child, her grandmother couldn't be a big part of her life. Sam remembered her grandmother's words of regret written in a birthday card she had sent to her on her twelfth birthday. Because of the distance between them, her grandmother had missed watching her grow and sharing in her dreams. At ten years of age, Sam had visited her grandmother only the once in Alberta. The memory of that one visit never left Sam's mind. She always planned to move to Alberta at some time in her life. Sam never got back to Alberta but now both her sons would be living in the west.
