Book Description: This story is about a little old lady who shrinks down to about three inches tall and falls in a crack in the lawn. Bernice, the green caterpillar, comes to her rescue, but once she is out of the crack, her vulnerability is very evident. In speaking with a beetle with geodesic eyes, she is amazed at the fragility of life, as a crow makes lunch of the beetle. Then a frog, excuse me. a toad with a Brooklyn accent helps her get closer to the house. Soon the spell wears off and she returns to normal size again, warning her daughter who has just arrived, not to try the muffins till she tells her about her adventure.
