At the dawn of the World War II, a Czechoslovakian coal miner Elmer decides to pursue his dream to immigrate to the United States (The New World). Alas, circumstances in his life and country never allow him to fulfill his grandest dream, as he is captured first by the Nazis and then a few decades later by the Communist government, and sent to a labor camp. His grandson, Francis, picks up Elmer?s dream and travels to the New World, to fulfill his grandfather?s last wish and legacy.
