The State of Texas has seen the rise, fall, and eventual loss of many enterprises. These include the production of lime and charcoal, the steam passenger railroads, the cotton and peanut industries in central Texas, breweries, and many others. Photographs of some of the remaining artifacts are used here to illustrate their former place in the Texas economy. This book examines the reasons why these have failed or faded, and the lessons that can be learned from their demise.
