Adam Ashton, a music journalist, has broken up with his girlfriend and is haunted by memories of his father. Adam needs to talk - to his best friend, Carrie. But Carrie turns up, having fled the scene of her boyfriend's murder, just as Adam is about to leave for Jamaica in an attempt to salvage his career. Carrie is dismissed by the police as a time wasting hysteric. Her boyfriend's body has disappeared. Adam falls for singer, Yolly, while immersing himself in the Jamaican music scene, but leaves her to join Edwin, an actor friend, for Christmas in Barbados. Edwin further persuades Adam to sign on as an extra, filming in the Guyanese jungle. He persuades Yolly to join them. Events take a surreal turn in Guyana, when Adam meets Carrie's boyfriend, Sebastian, who had to fake his own death in an effort to entrap a drug cartel with strong links in Guyana. Yolly takes charge when Adam, already mentally fragile, cracks in a confusion of film plot and reality. But, a chance discovery means Adam must face up to himself and the future.
