George yearns to have a horse of his own. He starts watching a little black horse that runs with a wild herd of horses near the family ranch. He and the horse seem to form a bond. After a wild horse roundup, George follows the tired little horse up a canyon and miraculously the horse lets George guide him to the family corral. George is thrilled when the horse eventually becomes his own. After his horse wins a race, George names him Little Shot. Together, George and Little Shot have many adventures, including rescuing little girls from a flash flood and catching a cattle rustler.
