Where Angels Tread Roy Edmonds
Where Angels Tread
Roy Edmonds
Romance with a comic twist and moral dilemma, set in a Cheshire village and the English Lake District. Jeffrey Love, an eligible former Oxford don, runs an obituary magazine called 'Goodbye'. Its small, loyal team are so successful they attract a ruthless takeover bid from an American corporation. Jeffrey is tempted by the offer and attractive representative Bonny Makepeace, but there are more sinister motives and agents at work. His battle for survival is backed by Goodbye's wily patron, former funeral director 'Old Nick' Grimley - who knows how to fight dirty; along with Jeffrey's ghostly household leftover from Victorian years - the Rev. Jeremiah Merryman. But the Goodbye team must tread that narrow path between greedy damnation and spiritual salvation. For, as Alexander Pope wrote, fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
