Ramblin Jack's stories, a hilarious collection of chaotic adventures, show a lack of inhibition on the part of many of the villagers and take place at every turn of the seasons and of life. This collection of the most popular bawdy and comic tales from his village of Lurking in the Wolds was related to the author by Ramblin Jack, at a time when he was the village's oldest resident. In the many years of his long life, Jack rarely left his home village, so he personally witnessed much of what went on. What he didn't see, he heard about, and from his earliest years he kept a journal. As he got older he found that telling these tales in the local hostelries earned him a few free drinks, and soon he was in great demand to relate them.
