The Jews Harp is a tale of five amazing women whose lives got off to a terrorizing beginning in the backwoods of south central Kentucky in 1949. Five little girls, daughters of brothers who were sharecroppers, grew tired of being tormented by a family member and being ignored in their pleas for help, took the law in their own hands. Because of circumstances in their parents lives, they were separated without contact for the next fifty years. In 1999, these women gather at the same place in order to support one another when there is a distinct possibility that their history will be revealed and they will be brought to trial. This is a story of physical and emotional strength, survival of the human spirit and winning. The characters are unique, loving, witty and bring to life the sometimes overlooked, innate strength of backwoods women which is still being passed down to their daughters even into the twenty-first century.
