Comet Jack
Steve Kopka
The window in the attic of Jack's spooky new house isn't a window at all. Yesterday a tennis ball bounced near it and vanished. Today, terrorized by bullies and stalked by his little sister, Jack escapes to the attic, and then he falls into the window.
He opens his eyes to thousands of stars. Below him turns an alien planet. He's happy to be alive, but relief turns to panic as he plummets toward the surface in a scorching fireball.
On the new planet, the locals won't stop calling him Comet, a famed galactic protector. Jack knows he's no superhero, but as he discovers new abilities, he realizes he might be the only one who can stop the belligerent aliens from tearing their homeworld apart.
He'd rather just mind his own business, but if Jack does nothing an entire planet could be destroyed. And on Earth, if he does nothing, his new school friends face daily humiliation and torment. Across the galaxy and around the corner at school, Jack has no choice but to stick his neck out for people he just met. Every time he tries to help, though, he just seems to make things worse...
