Kaa?Sa?Nee (Dreams Woman) is sitting on a rock ledge in the afternoon shade, overlooking the Escalante River Canyon, playing a sad floating piece of flute music. Aha? Tae (big cat) is lazing by her side purring like a kitten. She is thinking about the dreams that are getting stronger and stronger about the Lo? Hon (Running Man). The loneliness and desolation of the canyons has been a heavy burden for her to bear lately. She wonders if her father?s wish that she tend the Life?s Spring Water until his return is really the Way. After so many seasons there is a lot of doubt in her mind. Kaa?Sa?Nee sighs with a deep longing for what she does not know but still desires. Douglas Allen Waters is letting his mind slip more and more into a dream world. He does not even realize that soon so many of those dreams would turn into reality bringing him the most wonderful love a man could experience. With this love would also come a tremendous amount of pain and anguish? Would he be able to keep his sanity through it all? Gracie Edwards is just marking time in the little town of Escalante. She knows she is waiting for something to happen to start her on the road she will follow in life. In this summer before her senior year she is about to be thrust on that road. Gracie is very impatient to begin her journey. Kaa?Sa?Nee?s, Douglas Allen?s, and Gracie Edwards? lives will be entwined with each other more than they or anyone else will ever imagine. Love, life and family is the way. And the living water is always there. This story will carry you through each character?s experience of first love.
