When Max, a lonely widower, retired from teaching Philosophy 101, he began to wonder seriously about the meaning of life, particularly his. That thought led to the beginning of a secret quest for "Sex or the meaning of life--whichever comes first," his first attempt to give substance to his search for meaning. He had no idea that his move to a backwoods little town in Northern California was not only the beginning of both aspects of his quest, but the doorway to other realities and dimensions. Beyond that it was all part of an introduction to an endless panorama of colorful characters, from very human-like androids with not only superhuman strength and intelligence but superhuman charms and aspirations to an equally colorful cast of aliens from other worlds and other dimensions. He had no idea that what had begun as a retirement move to a quiet little out-of-the-way retreat for the purpose of living out an uncomplicated life in peace had ultimately put him on the path to immortality, galactic exploration, interstellar combat, conquest and alternate realities.
