Though he faced many near-death experiences as a climber, his greatest fear was becoming disabled as a result of a climbing accident. That didn't happen. But thirty years later, he found himself in a wheelchair, not as a result of an accident but because of the debilitating disease, multiple sclerosis. The fate worse than death found him. After succumbing to the disease, he then found Jesus and a reason to go on trying. He found grace better than life.
