This labor of love is intended to inspire those who are looking for a new direction in their lives, and to awaken society as a whole to the dilemmas we face as we struggle to come together as a unified whole. Each poet must draw from whatever sources are at ready hand to accomplish the desired task. Whether drawing from past or present experiences or observations, the poet through each quiet moment endeavors to capture in words what the thoughts are communicating to him. The sonnet form as seen here in these pages is a formal discipline that requires careful thought to capture the particular meaning while maintaining the strictness of the sonnet form. The meter, rhythm and alternating rhyme require considerable thought before the finished product is accomplished. It is my wish that these sonnets will inspire with sufficient meaning those new directions so that life may become more purposeful and more joy-filled. If any of these bring comfort, joy, harmony or peace to the needy soul, then my mission in offering these little sonnets will surely have succeeded.
